 El Puerto de Santa Marķa was historically linked with the Royal House of Dukes of Medinaceli for over 400 years from 1310 to 1729. In such momentous times for out town, such as the discovery of America, Luis de la Cerda, I Duke of Medinaceli and First Count of the Great Port of Santa Marķa, was a key player. He was of great value to Christopher Columbus himself as a means to the Catholic Royal Family to be able to carry out his projects. |
