 The Hotel is located just 14 km far form Marbella centre. The special characteristics of its surroundings, a little promontory overlooking the valleys of the rivers "Rio Verde" and "Molinos", as well as its ideal situation near Marbella and Málaga, were decisive for the Arabs to establish on this site. Nowadays you are able to enjoy, just a short distance away from al the glamour and jet-set of Marbella and the attraction parks and touristic infrastructure of the Costa del Sol, the peace of an ancient little village with its calm way of life, still untouched by tourism. Interesting monuments to visit are the church "San Miguel" from the 16th century and the Arabic Tower. No visitor to Istán should leave without having tasted, among other recipes, "chivo al ajillo" (kid with garlic), "sopa de maimones" (garlic soup) or "tortas de aceite" (sweet biscuits with olive oil). The most important festivity is the Easter Week (Semana Santa), with an enormous amount of local popular traditions and customs. |
