In 1742 it was erected the building where todays settles de Hotel Monopol Puerto de la Cruz, in the year 1758 the place was the birthplace of Agustín de Bethencourt, outstanding engineer, inventor, general and Knight of the Order of Imperial Russia. In the year 1850 the building was known as "The Dance and Theatre Club" and finally in the year 1888 the building became a hotel. During the year 1905 the hotel chaged its former name into Hotel Monopol. |
In the year 1928 Carlos and Erna Gleixner, a German couple became the manager and for the last 78 years they have been running the hotel together with their family and right now is the third generation of the Gleixner family who is running the hotel. In the year 1960 took place a major renovation in which the hotel was enlarged but of course retaining its original structure. The property raises close to a pedestrian area, just in the centre of town. It features a yipycal canarian patio and it offer 92 rooms with all the comforts of the modern life. |
