 The Hotel Orfila is part of the select elite of Madrid luxury hotels. In 2001 it raised one more step on its national and international importance, since it entered the Relais & Châteaux Association, which members are the most prestigious hotels of the world. Hotels part of Relais & Châteaux have to fulfil few conditions: be at least 4 or 5-star hotels, having less than 100 rooms and strictly accomplish the 5 important characteristic qualities: character, courtesy, calm, charm and good cuisine ("the 5 c´s"). |
 Now only 12 hotels in Spain are part of Relais & Châteaux, and the Hotel Orfila is the only one in Madrid. The Association Relais & Châteaux was awarded in 1999 as the Best Hotel Company in the world. It was founded in France in 1954, by Marcel and Nelly Tilloy. Recently, together with its colleague The Leading Hotels of the World, has created Luxury Alliance, trying to improve the offer to the clients and to strengthen the prestige of both companies in the international market. |
 The Hotel Orfila was awarded in 2001 as the Best Singular Hotel, in the 4th Edition of the Tourist Initiative Awards, given by the magazine Grandes Viajes "Great Trips". The hotel Orfila was awarded one more time in 2004 as one of the best 10 boutique Hotels in Europe, given by the magazine " Departures " voted for the card members of American Express Platinum and Centurion.
