It is advisable to get Travel Insurance when travelling in a foreign country as for a small outlay you can protect yourself against four types of loss: medical or health problems, property loss, trip cancellation or interruption, and emergency evacuation.
Before you buy Travel Insurance check your existing level of cover with your insurance company. Often medical insurance covers medical costs incurred abroad though you may need to get extra cover if you intend to undertake "risky" activities like skiing or sailing.
